Rob Freeman has spent a lifetime making music. A self-taught pianist, he entertained with an accordion as a young boy and was writing songs prolifically by his early teens. In the ‘60s and ‘70s, Rob was keyboardist/writer with several bands. Over the years his original songs have been featured in movie and television soundtracks and covered by a variety of artists. Today his studio walls are lined with gold and platinum record awards which he earned during successful years as a record producer/recording engineer working with such artists as KISS, Ramones, Blondie, and The Go-Go’s. Recognized for his work with others’ music, Rob is not widely known as an artist himself. Hopefully that’s about to change.
VIGNETTES is a collection of original songs mostly written summer 2019, with two late entries: “Aliens Come Down,” arrived (rather unexpectedly) in spring 2020, and “2020,” written in December in an attempt to sum up a horrific year of global pandemic, personal isolation, and so many other tragedies. The album's songs emerged as mini-portraits, each one highlighting some aspect of my life or some thing of special significance to me. They became my vignettes, which in turn inspired the title song.

“As we fly we can paint the sky with any kind of light we choose. And when they’re in my dreams again I’ll take the chance to dance within…”
We’ve all heard the inner voices–guiding us, imploring us. But what becomes of those precious thoughts when they remain secreted away inside? And who is the Quiet One, anyway? Is it the fab George Harrison?…is it me?…is it you? Listen carefully and you may discover some inner truths.
“They know we're out there…we know they're in here. Will they see the world as we see? I hope they stick around with all their mysteries unbound and in time we find what to believe…what truth.”
The world of a professional sound person is ofttimes a solitary and misunderstood one. All we want is to provide clean, hi-quality audio for your project, but we’re left to wend our own way through the many obstacles placed before us. In the end, it’s a battle all can win…with basic understanding, a bit more empathy, and some blind (or is it, “deaf”) trust.
“Now something’s got to change or nothing will remain…just the world’s broken pride sinking in the red tide…” No more!
Open up those windows…open up those hearts. Let in all the human feelings that come floating in with the breeze. Let love in.
Years from now this will be the past…so grab the sunrise and hold on fast…and sing your songs to make them last…yeah, sing your songs to make them…” Growing up without grandparents, I couldn't have anticipated the joy that becoming one would create in me. My grandkids bring youthful vitality to my heart and spirit every day.
Here we go again…hold on tight as we begin another cycle in the finite journey of our lives. Got to try to keep pace, “at least until this song is finally done…until this song is finely done.”
“It’s a day unlike no other…a good day to love one another.” I believe we should honor and respect the planet and all its inhabitants each and every day of the year, and not just as part of a “season.” That, together with cherishing the joys of life, is the main message of my song.
As we crawl from the wreckage that was 2020, scathed and groggy, we are awakening from some common global nightmare. Now it's on to the aftermath..."waiting for us a brighter dawn to shine."
GRAND POP MUSIC set out upon a musical journey spanning a continent (LA to Miami…and back again). Sights and sounds they encountered along the way inspired Grand Pop Music, the soundtrack to the journey.

As the stars dance toward the never end of time, what else can we do but live, love, laugh, and cry...as real as it can be.
ME, MY SELFIE, & EYE is a collection of original songs written over a period of three and a half decades, 1979-2015. Do the songs on the album contain carefully interwoven themes, or were they randomly conceived and simply placed together? I suppose that’s for you to decide. For myself, when I listen through the album, I am transported to many wondrous and unsettling corners of my life experience, as seen and heard through my eyes and ears…my selfie.

What more can be said about a song that says so much—yet so little—about the state of our world? Though written long ago, it still seems somehow relevant. “You may have wanted a bedtime story, but…”
Lifetimes, like seasons, are cyclical, but, unlike seasons, they are often unpredictable. Here I take a good hard look at something you can never quite see. It’s just another Hazy May.
A young, hard-working singer tours endlessly, back and forth from one end of mighty Canada to the other, in a cold, mile-weary van. He dreams of home, where he used to watch the Northern Lights do their sky dance.
We’ve all been to the dark place, blinded by our own perceptions (or lack of them). I don’t wish it on anyone. Will all hope be dashed out at sea…or can love truly open our eyes and save the day? Only time will tell.
Two close and enduring life-long friends, musical partners since the sixties, reunite to create contemporary versions of some of their classic songs.

"All Around Me" is the first music video from Blinderman & Freeman's 2014 debut album, "Music for the Sunrise." The song, written in 1968 by Rob, was first performed back in the day by Bleu Grass, a Lehigh Valley, PA, band that had Rob as its keyboard player and Barry Blinderman as its lead singer. The two were also the band's primary songwriters. ©2014 ROBAR Records. All rights reserved.
Rob, along with Martin Balk and Paul Jost, was a founding member of RMI-TMI (pronounced "rummy tummy"), a band that enjoyed a highly creative and progressive, if all too short-lived, musical experience together. There's a lot of history here—with many incredible musicians gracing the band with their talents: Michael Barbiero, John Markel, Jared Melson, Jim Avey, Dave Link, and others—but I'll save all that for another day and another webpage. Instead, let the music speak for itself. Here is USKATURE TO AN OVUS, RMI-TMI's album recorded (twice!) in 1972 at MediaSound Studios, NYC, by the inimitable production team of Harvey Goldberg and Al Varner.
